Prima Hire provides easy flooring solution for rock revellers

Rock stars of the future performing at this year’s Download festival at Donington Park were able to strut their stuff in comfort thanks to an innovative flooring solution provided by Leicester-based PRIMA Hire Ltd.

PRIMA Hire Ltd was commissioned by The Dobson White Partnership, who designed, specified and project managed the Rock Up & Play area at the Download festival, which was headlined by Iron Maiden and Linkin Park.
Rock Up & Play offered hundreds of people the chance to sign up and show off their talents on a free stage which celebrates raw musical talent.  Amateur musicians were given a unique opportunity to perform two songs to a live crowd, backed up by a fully specified concert sound and lighting system.

Around 400m² of PRIMA Hire’s Gridmat flooring was installed at the Rock Up & Play area providing a cost effective, portable flooring and access system, which not only protected footwear from the weather, but also protected the grass underneath from damage caused by the revellers.  The inherently sprung floor also alleviates strain and supports tired limbs, so rockers can keep on rocking!

David Gorton, production manager at The Dobson White Partnership, said, “Without PRIMA’s Gridmat the grass at Rock Up & Play would have just been a mud bath. It provided a cost effective solution which was easy to install and made the site a safer place for spectators to stand and enjoy the show as well as being more attractive than a muddy field. As far as we are aware, we are the only company to floor grass areas at festivals. We have been working with PRIMA for the last three years and find them very good to deal with.  We have already commissioned PRIMA Gridmat for the Reading and Leeds festivals this Summer.”
