PrimaDirect Rolls Out the Red Carpet
for One of the UK's Largest Christmas Parties

One of the UK's biggest ever Christmas parties - over 9,000 guests - has recently taken place at London's Alexandra Palace.
The party hosted by The Carphone Warehouse, was organised by Hype Party Planning, who commissioned Leicester-based carpet and flooring specialist for the events industry PRIMA Direct to supply a luxurious red carpet for the entrance and spectacular pure black carpeting for the backstage 'Bollywood' style tents.
Marcus Rendle , director at Hype Party Planning said, "Having used PRIMA Direct for a number of years it was reassuring to know that the carpet we required would be delivered on site, on time, in the colours we required to dress an already impressive venue.

PrimaDirect Helps Top Edinburgh Hotel
Celebrate Five Star Status

PRIMA Direct (International) Ltd, one of the UK's leading manufacturers and suppliers of flooring solutions for the events industry, has helped one of Edinburgh's most luxurious retreats, Prestonfield, celebrate its new 5-star status.
Proprietor James Thomson OBE, Prestonfield's owner, played host to a party of 300 guests recently so they could join in with the success of this centuries-old landmark.
PRIMA Direct (International) Ltd were asked to provide a striking striped carpeted walkway in Prestonfield's corporate colours - cerise, black and magenta - under a ceiling of starcloth and flowers for guests entering the party marquee.
Guests were entertained by the hotel's Big Band and served their own label champagne and canapes.
Mark Rowley, PR Manager at Prestonfield, who designed the event, said, "Fine details matter immensely for an event at Prestonfield and the drama and theatre created by the installation of PRIMA Direct's carpets added hugely to the striking look of the event and to the enjoyment of our guests.
"High profile and televised events such as The Herald's Scottish Politician of the Year Awards and MTV Awards dinner are regularly held at Prestonfield and we find PRIMA Direct's carpets are an ideal way to create a memorable and magical look. Prestonfield's guests receive the red carpet treatment at all times. It's just that sometimes we give them cerise, lime or scarlet!"

PrimaDirect Sponsors
Knaptoft's First International Horse Trails

PRIMA Direct at Vaughans of Leicester Ltd, one of the UK's leading manufacturers and suppliers of flooring solutions for the events industry, has sponsored a new International Horse Trial event at Knaptoft in Leicestershire.
Held annually since 1994, this is the first time the Knaptoft Horse Trials has been graded an international event. The event attracted entries from around the globe, with riders ranging from novice to intermediate, representing countries including Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, New Zealand, the USA and Great Britain, headed by European champion Zara Phillips (Princess Anne's daughter).
PRIMA Direct was one of a number of sponsors of the two-day event, which was attended by a record number of visitors.   As well as sponsoring parts of the course, the event flooring specialist supplied its PRIMA Terra-Tech instant roadway and PRIMA Gridmat portable flooring and access system for the entrance to the course, which was designed and built by Philip Herbert, on rolling farmland at Neville Hall's Knaptoft Grange, near Husbands Bosworth.   Increasing in popularity, the event also featured a number of quality trade stands, including tack, food and even exotic rugs.
Jonathan Vaughan, managing director, Vaughans of Leicester Ltd, said:
" "We were very pleased to be sponsors of the first international Knaptoft Horse Trials.   Not only are we keen supporters of eventing, it is really exciting to watch and a fantastic sport, testing both horse and rider.
"We are also neighbours of the event so were delighted that so many international competitors have taken part, although it was reported that most of the winners lived within 10 miles from Knaptoft, which just shows the standard we have here in the county."

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE WITH THE
PRIMA INFECTION
BIO-PROTECTION MAT

SUITABLE FOR POULTRY FARMS, EGG MERCHANTS, FARMS, BIRD BREEDERS, NATURE AND WILDLIFE PARKS, ZOO'S & ANIMAL PORTS

DEFRA Specification Disinfectant
Simple and easy to use
Supply Only or Supply and Fit
Standard and bespoke sizes available
Suitable for Vehicular and Pedestrian Access

The Prima Bio-Protection Mat was originally developed in conjunction with the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society utilising DEFRA specification disinfectant solutions.

Several layers of capillary sponge sandwiched with an absorbent polypropylene fibre matrix are incorporated into a disinfectant reservoir. The pressure of the weight going on to the mat causes disinfectant to be injected upwards and outwards into all the nooks and crannies of the foot, tyre or sole.
This ensures a thorough dowsing to whatever travels over the mat without the need to stop and spray, enabling a continuous flow of traffic to minimise delays. The system is also economical as any surplus disinfectant goes back into the mat to be used again.

These attributes are a welcome alternative to disinfectant impregnated straw, which has been identified as relatively ineffective and wasteful of expensive solution.

It is also considered that human and vehicular traffic is not properly treated when dipped in a bath of disinfectant because there are small areas which form air-locks where the disinfectant cannot reach.
During trials at a show at the Kings Hall in Belfast, a continuous stream of traffic and pedestrians were treated on the way in and out over a 12 hour period using only 8 gallons of disinfectant solution.

PRIMA TEAM NOW
LICENCED TO LIFT!

PRIMA Direct - Vaughans of Leicester Limited - manufacturers and suppliers of flooring, instant roadway and portable access systems to the event industry - have always taken their equal opportunities policy seriously. But it is fair to say that when a representative from a professional fork lift training company arrived at the company's huge warehouse complex to put some of the PRIMA team through their paces, he could have been forgiven for being mildly surprised that the majority of his students were women!

Michael Lyons, a trainer from Lift It Right Ltd, took it all in his stride however, and after a full two day, on site training course was happy to award Sharon Neal, Operations Manager, Luisa Travers, Operations Administrator and Sam Rowe, Sales and Special Projects each their RTITB Accredited Lift Truck Operating Skills Licence. Speaking on behalf of the female members of the team Sharon said: "We were delighted to be given the opportunity to train for and achieve our licences.
Our Company has a positive multi-skills policy and being in the event business anything can happen anytime and it does! If a customer needs something instantly and our male counterparts are away on site laying an instant road for example, we need to be able to load a lorry using a forklift and if necessary drive the order to our customer as quickly as possible. Now we can."

Sharon Neal, Operations Manager and Luisa Travers, Operations Administrator, and Sam Rowe, (not pictured) Sales and Special Projects, PRIMA Direct - Vaughans of Leicester Ltd, all recently achieved their Fork Lift licences. Newly appointed Operations Administrator, Fiona Hurd is looking forward to commencing her training soon.

VAUGHANS OF LEICESTER PROVIDE DANCEFLOOR FOR BABY ELEPHANT NAMING CEREMONY

Manufacturers and suppliers to the special event industry, Vaughans of Leicester Ltd, are often called upon to supply flooring solutions to some of the world's most spectacular events - but a recent request was for a particularly unusual event.

The birth of a new baby is reason for celebration in itself, but the birth of a new baby Asian elephant at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park called for a full blown traditional Indian baby naming ceremony. Baby elephants and their parents however, are not usually kept indoors, so a portable, outdoor dance floor was required so the dancers taking part in the event could perform alongside the elephants in comfort.

The ceremony, to name baby Aneena, was presided over by a priest from the Hare Krishna Temple in Watford and the Kadam Asian Dance Company performed traditional Indian dance as offerings were burnt in honour of the elephant amid chanting and blessings.

"The birth of our Asian elephant is a great success for Whipsnade and we were delighted to celebrate this with her naming ceremony," said Chris West, Zoological Director at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. Vaughans of Leicester, managing director, Jonathan Vaughan said: "As our corporate logo is an elephant standing on our portable flooring to demonstrate how strong it is, it was most appropriate that it was used as part of the ceremony welcoming the new baby Asian elephant."
